Could a person love where they live as much as they love a person?

I know this is a strange question. I was wondering with so many people losing houses if it could be the same for some people as losing a loved one? Why and why not? I know I love where I live but have hated where I have lived before. I feel the place I live in now is peaceful & supports what I do in life. I am trying to think of what else so if you can clarify how a person feels about the house they live in compared to how they feel about people, please do that....I would imagine if someone lived in a cramped place & moved to some where roomy they would fee free.
