Do adoptive parents get any info in a private closed adoption?
In a closed adoption, through an agency, the adoptive parents would receive the medical and genetic information/pregnancy and delivery information with the names, addresses, and any identifying information deleted. They would not be told any information about the birthmother other than perhaps her reason for placing and race. The birthmother could still pick the adoptive parents but does not meet them. In Wisconsin, the birthparents would have the option of completing a Search Affidavit, which would allow the adoptee to search for them upon turning 18 years of age.
