Do many Marine Corps mustangs enlist after college?

I want to be a Marine. I've been thinking about it a lot and was thinking of doing NROTC through college and becoming a Marine Officer. At the same time, the thought of being an enlisted Marine really attracts me. I am for sure going to college. What I'm wondering is if any Marine Officers that were prior enlisted ever went to college before enlisting so they didn't have to do it in between getting out of their 4 years and going to OCS and TBS. The reason why I think I might want to enlist first is that I don't want to go through my officer career never firing my weapon or joining my men in their hardships. It just seems like being an officer kind of alienates you from your men. The thing is, I want to be a marine and want that action and brotherly aspect from it too and don't know if I would get that being an officer as much. I don't want to send off troops to go do the dirty work and sit and watch them do things instead of having the experience of working along side my brothers. Can any marines help me with this dilemma? I know I'm asking a lot but i would appreciate your help.
